My name is Kirsten and I moved to NZ from England in 2003. I live with my husband Toby and our 2 girls. I have always loved taking photos but didn't do it as a profession until 2014. I started in sport, Toby races motorbikes so we were always at the track. I couldn't go out on the track to photograph the bikes in action because I had to stay close by to look after the kids. So it was the people in the pits I focused on. Anyway it was actually the people I liked to photograph the most, so much emotion everywhere, I took natural candid photos of everything that was going on, people had never seen these kind of pics before and they loved them. From sport I naturally started shooting families and kids (not literally), again just in the same natural kind of style. I didn't move into weddings until more recently, the truth is I was nervous, such a huge responsibility capturing someone's big day but a couple years back I shot a friends wedding in Vanuatu and absolutely loved it. Pretty much exactly the same as shooting sport and families, loads of emotion, loads of action and loads of love.
It took me a while to accept that what I saw through the lens wasn't the same as what most other people saw. I just love taking photos of real life as it happens and then sharing those pictures, often resulting in lots of warm and fuzzies. I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE taking photos and feel blessed to be in a position where I can do something that makes people smile (or cry) every time. I defy anyone that says they are not photogenic, we are all beautiful, let me take your pic to prove it!
So if you'd like me to take some photos of, or for you, please don't hesitate to get in touch.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Before I became a full-time photographer I was a video editor working in TV. I have always made videos and taken photos, whether of my kids, my husband racing, my friends, my friend's kids anything really that took my fancy. When I started Mad love Media in 2014 I didn't want to limit myself just to photography, I wanted to be open to be able to film and edit too if I wanted. That is where 'Media' came from. As it goes I actually prefer taking photos and am very lucky to be able to work with my brother who shares my passion except he prefers filming and editing over taking photos! 'Mad Love' came from my obsession with the word 'love' I love what it means, I love what it stands for and I love love hearts! I feel like mad love means passion which shows up in many things, and especially in all that I love to photograph: Weddings, families, kids, sport, events etc... And so Mad Love Media was born!
P.s. I wrote the logo myself.
