My name is Kirsten and I moved to NZ from England in 2003. I live with my husband Toby and our 2 girls. I have always loved taking photos but didn't do it as a profession until 2014. I started in sport, Toby races motorbikes so we were always at the track. I couldn't go out on the track to photograph the bikes in action because I had to stay close by to look after the kids. So it was the people in the pits I focused on. Anyway it was actually the people I liked to photograph the most, so much emotion everywhere, I took natural candid photos of everything that was going on, people had never seen these kind of pics before and they loved them. Fast forward to 2019 when for the third year running I became one of only 2 official photographers of the New Zealand Superbike Championships. I shoot in the pits and my partner shoots out on the track. I love it!
When I’m not shooting sport I love to shoot portraits. Kids, people in business, families and the ultimate event weddings, which are pretty much the same as sport in that there’s loads of emotion, loads of things happening and loads of passion/love.
If you'd like me to take some photos of you, or for you or cover an event that you’re running, please get in touch, i’d love to hear from you.
Before I became a full-time photographer I was a video editor working in TV. I have always made videos and taken photos, whether of my kids, my husband racing, my friends, my friend's kids anything really that took my fancy. When I started Mad love Media in 2014 I didn't want to limit myself just to photography, I wanted to be open to be able to film and edit too if I wanted. That is where 'Media' came from. As it goes I actually prefer taking photos and am very lucky to be able to work with my brother who shares my passion except he prefers filming and editing over taking photos! 'Mad Love' came from my obsession with the word 'love' I love what it means, I love what it stands for and I love love hearts! I feel like mad love means passion which shows up in many things, and especially in all that I love to photograph: Weddings, families, kids, sport, events etc... And so Mad Love Media was born!
P.s. I wrote the logo myself.
